Our Story

Blu Smooth was born in 2014 on the shores of the Indian Ocean in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

It all began with Kevin Richards — a former international swimmer and triathlete — who started designing wetsuits tailored specifically for local open-water swimmers and triathletes. In the early days, he sold them straight from the boot of his car.

Since then, Blu Smooth has grown well beyond South Africa. Today, our wetsuits are trusted by swimmers across the UK, Europe, and Australia. Yet at our core, we’ve stayed the same.

We’re deeply passionate about open-water swimming — and about swimming fast. Every Blu Smooth wetsuit is built with purpose: engineered for freestyle and tested relentlessly in real ocean conditions.
